Stay competitive with affordable, clean, reliable natural gas vehicles.
Zero-emission, compressed natural gas vehicles (CNGs) bring innovation to transportation, and support our biggest environmental initiative: a low carbon pathway. Using renewable natural gas in your CNG fleet can reduce your carbon emissions even more. Our own vehicle fleet includes 100 natural gas and bi-fuel vehicles, and we can help you stay competitive as you convert to natural gas vehicles, too.
Natural gas vehicles
Cleaner than diesel
Cleaner than diesel
Natural gas engines with near-zero emission technology produce 90% fewer nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions than the cleanest diesel engines, without harmful particulate matter from diesel exhaust. These clean-burning engines stay clean during all duty cycles, from idle to high-speed operation.
Lower carbon emissions
Lower carbon emissions by up to 20%
Or, up to 125% when fueled by renewable natural gas. The largest fleets in our region use renewable natural gas, and we can help upgrade your fleet to renewable natural gas, too.
Cheaper per gallon than diesel
More cost effective
Natural gas can offer more fuel savings and much less price volatility. Plus, NGVs do not use a diesel particulate filter, thus eliminating significant maintenance costs.
Calculate your savings with a fuel cost calculator.
May also qualify for credits
Natural gas vehicle fleets can take advantage of the Oregon Clean Fuels program and Federal Clean Fuels Standard credits to significantly reduce fuel costs, while decreasing GHG emissions.
Versatile and resilient
Versatile and resilient
Versatile
Natural gas can fuel a range of vehicles including light- and medium-duty work vehicles, police vehicles, school and transit buses and shuttles, refuse trucks, construction equipment—even marine vessels, forklifts and locomotives.
Resilient
NW Natural delivers fuel through its underground network, which is inherently resistant to wind and ice storms, flooding and seismic events. Ensure your fleet is fueled where and when you need it through diversification with natural gas.
CNG vehicle customer responsibility
CNG vehicle customer responsibility
Service to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle fueling equipment is subject to tariff requirements. A fuel-use tax may apply to natural gas used for CNG vehicle fueling. It is the customer’s responsibility to calculate and report any fuel-use tax obligation. Each taxing authority may have their own calculations. For more information on calculating vehicle fueling usage, visit the State of Oregon, State of Washington, orU.S. Department of Energy.
